Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils for their therapeutic effects to
promote and maintain vitality of spirit, emotions, and the physical body. Ancient civilizations have used plants and oils for thousands of years for their aesthetic use as well as therapeutically for body and mind.
Essential Oils are concentrated forms of plant essences and represent the sourl or life force of the plant. They are extracted from aromatic plants most commonly through steam distillation. What is obtained is the plant’s natural essence and characterized most of all by it’s own unique aroma.
Each oil has apecific emotional, energetic, and physiological effects on the body. When essential oils are skillfully blended together, a more complex synergistic effect is obtained. This allows for endless combinations which can effectively address each individual's needs as a whole.
Aromatherapy is effective when used through inhalation and by skin absorption. Either method provides for a therapeutic effect on mood, emotions, stress levels, hormonal balance, as well as the physical body. When blended with seed or vegetable oils, essential oils can be externally applied for their effect on organs and body systems as a whole. Thus, the body is supported to attain a state of balance with disharmony being addressed.
In general, essential oils improve circulation, influence organs, and restore emotional and mental balance. They enhance the body’s own natural healing process in reducing stress levels and supporting the body's physiological functions.
